A huge inspiration to everyone she meets, Gilda is one of our fantastic #inspiringwomen and role models at @Google ! Gilda has built an empire of success, excelling in all aspects of her life, and the Inspiring the Future Ireland team have been so lucky over the past number of years to work with Gilda on providing so many brilliant opportunities to the young people of South County Dublin!

I work at the Google Data Centre in Dublin and my job title is Administrative Business Partner

I am very proud of having crafted a life and a career in Ireland, starting from scratch, not knowing anyone and having very basic English when I first arrived (many moons ago).

Fast forward to the present day and I now have a wonderful family, a very good job that allows me to grow and work on projects that I care about, and friends all over the world.

I take inspiration from many people, from family members to public figures. Someone I truly admire is an Italian racecourse driver and paralympic pluri-gold medalist: Alex Zanardi. He showed me the importance of a positive attitude, of appreciating what you have and not what is missing, of making the most of every opportunity, even when the odds seem against you and of not taking yourself too seriously.

I don’t know that I can be of inspiration to anyone, nobody has it all figured out and nobody has a perfect life. I have been very lucky, having met people who have supported and encouraged me along the way. On my part, I have tried to stay true to myself; I haven’t followed anyone else’s vision or expectation of what my life should be and I have done what felt right for me.
