Welcome Simone

We are delighted to welcome Simone McCann as Inspiring the Future Ireland Project Officer.

As a previous volunteer with ITFI, Simone has shared insights about her previous job and career journey with students and has a unique insight into how this direct interaction helps to open new vistas of possibility for students and provides them with real-world perspectives on various professional pathways.

This programme is dedicated to providing the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, and opportunities necessary for youth to realise and achieve their career potential. Recognizing the challenges schools face in engaging employers and delivering effective career readiness initiatives, Inspiring the Future Ireland seeks to revolutionise this by implementing a coordinated approach to employer engagement across both primary and post-primary education in Ireland.

How can you get involved?

The initiative offers a free and straightforward platform for schools, colleges, and volunteers from the workforce to connect. Volunteers commit to a minimum of just one hour per year/ to visit a school in their local area to share insights about their job and career journey with students. This direct interaction helps to open new vistas of possibility for students and provides them with real-world perspectives on various professional pathways.

Simone invites you to contact her directly to explore further initiatives or additional support you can provide to enrich the programme and extend its impact.

Through her leadership, Simone is committed to building strong partnerships that enhance the framework of the programme, making it both sustainable and responsive to the needs of all those involved.

Please contact Simone directly with any potential initiatives, collaborations or additional support available at simone.mccann@sdcpartnership.ie or call her on 0861659908.

CBRE CV and Interview Preparation workshop 2023

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1977″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ultimate_heading main_heading=”CBRE CV & Interview Preparation Workshop” alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”middle” line_height=”1″ margin_design_tab_text=”” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:700″ main_heading_style=”font-weight:700;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:500″ sub_heading_style=”font-weight:500;” spacer_margin=”margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;”]

Volunteering is a powerful way to make a positive impact in communities, and the volunteers from CBRE, a leading global real estate services and investment firm, recently demonstrated this by dedicating their time to help students at Coláiste Bríde school in South County Dublin. Through a CV and Interview Workshop organized by Inspiring the Future Ireland, these volunteers shared valuable insights into their career paths, providing guidance and inspiration to the students. The event proved to be an invaluable opportunity for the students to learn about various career options, receive expert advice, and enhance their employability skills.

[/ultimate_heading][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Learning from the Volunteers:” alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”middle” line_height=”1″ margin_design_tab_text=”” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:700″ main_heading_style=”font-weight:700;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:500″ sub_heading_style=”font-weight:500;” spacer_margin=”margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;”]

The CBRE volunteers brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the workshop, allowing the students to gain a deeper understanding of different career paths. Each volunteer shared their personal journey, highlighting the challenges they faced and the milestones they achieved along the way. By sharing their stories, they motivated the students to dream big and pursue their passions.

[/ultimate_heading][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1961″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1970″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Preparing an Impressive CV:” alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”middle” line_height=”1″ margin_design_tab_text=”” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:700″ main_heading_style=”font-weight:700;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:500″ sub_heading_style=”font-weight:500;” spacer_margin=”margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;”]

One of the crucial aspects of securing a job is having an outstanding curriculum vitae (CV). Recognizing this, the CBRE volunteers guided the students through the process of creating a compelling CV. They explained the significance of a well-structured CV, emphasized the importance of tailoring it to specific job requirements, and provided valuable tips on highlighting one’s skills and experiences effectively. Armed with this knowledge, the students learned how to showcase their strengths and stand out from the crowd.

[/ultimate_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Mastering the Mock Interviews” alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”middle” line_height=”1″ margin_design_tab_text=”” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:700″ main_heading_style=”font-weight:700;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:500″ sub_heading_style=”font-weight:500;” spacer_margin=”margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;”]

To bolster the students’ confidence and prepare them for future job interviews, the CBRE volunteers conducted mock interviews. This exercise allowed the students to practice their interview skills in a supportive environment. The volunteers asked typical interview questions and provided constructive feedback, helping the students understand their strengths and areas for improvement. Through this invaluable experience, the students gained insights into the interview process and honed their ability to present themselves professionally.

[/ultimate_heading][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”1966″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1971″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1972″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”1973″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1974″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][ultimate_heading main_heading=”Impact and Collaboration” alignment=”left” spacer=”line_only” spacer_position=”middle” line_height=”1″ margin_design_tab_text=”” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:700″ main_heading_style=”font-weight:700;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:500″ sub_heading_style=”font-weight:500;” spacer_margin=”margin-top:15px;margin-bottom:15px;”]

The collaboration between Inspiring the Future in collaboration with CBRE, Coláiste Bríde was a resounding success. By bridging the gap between education and the professional world, the workshop provided the students with an invaluable opportunity to learn from experienced individuals. The event not only equipped them with practical skills but also inspired them to explore diverse career paths and aim higher in their ambitions.

[/ultimate_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][ultimate_heading alignment=”left” margin_design_tab_text=”” main_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:700″ main_heading_style=”font-weight:700;” sub_heading_font_family=”font_family:Poppins|font_call:Poppins|variant:500″ sub_heading_style=”font-weight:500;”]

Through the commitment and expertise of the volunteers, the students gained invaluable insights into various career paths, learned how to create an impressive CV, and honed their interview skills. This collaborative effort exemplifies the power of volunteerism in shaping the future workforce and empowering students to confidently pursue their dreams. The dedication of CBRE volunteers, in partnership with Inspiring the Future, has undeniably made a lasting difference in the lives of these students, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for success in their future endeavors.

Following work placement experiences provided by Inspiring the Future Ireland (ITFI), 30 fifth-class students from Scoil Chaitlín Maude presented their visions for the future before the Mayor at the school on May 30.

A nonprofit organisation piloted by the South Dublin County Partnership (SDCP) in 2017 and national branch of the international service of the same name, Inspiring the Future Ireland connects primary and secondary students with volunteers across a network of industries.

At the 2.5 hour-long event, the students delivered their ideas about solutions for vital county issues such as the environment – including litter and recycling, marine preservation and air pollution – as well as homelessness, public transport and local facilities such as playgrounds.

During the initial intervention at the County Chamber, the students met with the Mayor alongside chamber staff from various council departments and learned about their roles in the community, how their work affects the community and how students can become involved.

During the second intervention at Tymon Park, the students met with one of the park’s expert SDCC wardens and learned about these individual’s essential impacts on their communities.

Earlier this year, Inspiring the Future arranged work placements at Leinster House for 15 students from St. Mark’s Community School, Tallaght Community School and Deansrath Community College, who similarly presented their futuristic solutions and ideas for a brighter future.
