Career Profile
I have just joined Microsoft as a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert in their Dublin Data Centre.
Proudest achievement to date
Since qualifying as a mechanical fitter in 2008 I have worked full time but continued to upskill by going to college part-time. My proudest moment to date was inviting my parents to my graduation when I was conferred with my Mechanical Engineering degree. At that time I was the first person in my family to go to university. I continue to be passionate about education and have gone on to hold a Masters in Engineering.
Who inspires you the most?
I am incredibly fortunate to have many incredible women in my life who constantly inspire me, both friends and family but none more so than my mother. Her strength, love, and guidance have been an unwavering source of support.
Inspiration for future generations
One thing I would encourage young people to keep in mind is that success often comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone and taking risks. It can be scary to try new things or pursue a passion, but it’s important to remember that growth and progress often come from taking those leaps of faith. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or fail – these experiences can be valuable learning opportunities that help you grow and improve. Remember that you have unique talents and strengths that can make a difference in the world, and with hard work and perseverance, you can achieve your goals and make a positive impact on the world around you.
