Proudest achievement to date
‘I would have to break this down into the personal, professional and political.
Professional and personal achievements for me are always around education – I come from a Council housing estate where it was not the popular or done thing to go to third-level education. I received a really brilliant education and it is something that I value hugely and have allowed me to be the professional that I am. My biggest political achievement was winning my seat in the last election against all of the odds – I was odds on to lose my seat and my team and I worked through huge adversity including losing my sister to suicide during the campaign.’

Inspiration for future generations
‘Probably not something specific about me but more of a general purpose on how I live my life – I am not your typical politician. I am female, (fairly) young, gay, married and about to become a parent for the first time. For me it is ok to be different and to own those differences, those differences make the world a better place and if you embrace those society will embrace you.’
