Career Profile
My job title is Senior Advocacy and Integration Officer and I work for South Dublin County Partnership.
Proudest achievement to date
My biggest achievement is being able to balance between pursuing an interesting and rewarding career where I can have a positive impact on people by helping them, while continuing to upskill myself by getting professional qualifications (recently I graduated from another diploma) and at the same time meeting the demands of parenthood: I am a mother of three wonderful boys.
Who inspires you the most?
Throughout my life I have been fortunate to have met a lot of women who have inspired me in a big way, including my mum. She is also my greatest motivator and raised me to understand the importance of empathy, hard-work, perseverance, courage and not giving up. I am deeply grateful to all those wonderful people: tutors, work colleagues, friends who have inspired and empowered me along the way.
Inspiration for future generations
My greatest achievements were often related to my greatest challenges, and embracing them helped me grow and become stronger. Also, I believe that one should never stop learning, and to me continuous learning means confidence and competence to manage change in our life, while self-reflection and self-empowerment have been essential to my personal and professional growth.
I would encourage anyone to believe in themselves, take your challenges, keep going and if ‘old ways won’t open new doors’, don’t be afraid to knock on a new door to open it.
