Terrence MacGoff an Engineering Director from Google, describes his experience of volunteering at an Inspiring the Future event: “Volunteers coming into a school can help young people to make better informed decisions about their futures and the value of education. Simply telling a personal story can have a huge impact on a young person’s aspirations and help them to understand what they can achieve. But this isn’t a one way street – time and again, volunteers speak of the inspiration they draw from the young people they meet. It is very rewarding to be involved and I’d encourage volunteers to register on the inspiringthefuture.ie website”.
Gwen Barry from Bank of America Merrill Lynch also enjoyed the experience: “The event was very good and very well organised. The students were very engaged in the whole process. They were very keen to find out what the volunteers did and what their jobs were. They were willing to listen to what we had to say and they asked plenty of questions.”
Simply log onto the website, click the volunteers tab, sign up and complete the short registration form. Pledge one hour a year to inspire and ignite young people’s aspirations! Encourage your friends and colleagues to pledge online too!
