INSPIRING the Future Ireland hosted a STEM event for Secondary Schools around South Dublin County, on November 15th, in the AWS Think Big Space in Tallaght.
Schools that took part included Tallaght Community School, St Aiden’s Community College, Collaiste Bride, Collinstown Park Community College, Killinarden Community School and Mount Seskin Community College. Ten students were chosen from each school and the year groups taking part ranged from transition Year to 6th Year.
‘Inspiring STEM’ featured an exciting panel of professionals from the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, each with their own unique career journey. Each session ran in four separate stations, these stations each featured a small activity to get the students engaged with STEM. The students also had the opportunity to learn more about roles and career paths within the STEM sector.
Volunteers from South Dublin County Partnership, LearnIT, Citywise Education, PM Group, Google, SISK and Mercury all took part to deliver STEM based activities to young people. The goal of the STEM event was to encourage young people to consider careers within the STEM Industry.
