Online Career Networking – Meet the Professionals

Sign up for our Online Career Networking events today!

Join our Virtual Career’s World where your students can explore our virtual offices and college campuses! Students will meet professionals from a variety of sectors to learn about their jobs, educational routes, and the ups and downs of their career paths.

Research has proven that our online career networking events, broaden young people’s horizons, raise their aspirations, challenge gender and social stereotypes, improve academic attainment, and reduce the likelihood of young people becoming unemployed or leaving education.

Learn to Code – Great for Transition Year Students!

Our colleagues at Microsoft DreamSpace have just released a free six-part series to bring secondary school students on journey where they will learn to code. This course is completely self-directed and can be completed on a computer, tablet, or mobile phone. Resources including the video episodes, curriculum links, worksheets and extension activities are all available at the touch of a button. No coding experience necessary. In addition to this training Inspiring the Future will provide STEM focused Career Speed Networking events giving your students the opportunity to meet with our friends in Google, Microsoft and Bank of America to learn more about their pathways to STEM careers. A workplace tour of Microsoft Dreamspace can also be arranged to give students a clear vision for a potential future in STEM. Interested? Employability Skills Training Platform

Our friends at Accenture have provided us with access to their online employability training platform which aims to support build skills to prepare for the world of work, apply for their first job, CV and Interview prep, cover letters and application forms. This platform provides 36 bitesize, interactive modules that can be completed as self-directed learning or as group activities. For self-directed learning teachers have access to login and check students’ progress at any time. Upon completion of one or more modules schools will be offered an online Inspiring the Future Career Speed Networking workshop to complement their learning. Interested? Find Your Inspiration Primary School Teacher Training

The ‘Find Your Inspiration’ course aims to broaden pupil’s horizons, to increase their knowledge of different careers and to increase their expectations of themselves. The programme has been developed by Home School Liaison Teachers from participating schools and South Dublin County Partnership in conjunction with Maynooth University and Jigsaw Clondalkin. This online teacher training includes all resources, lesson plans and workbooks required for delivery of the course. Online Career Networking Events!

 

 

 

At the heart of our work is our online career networking events. These events provide opportunities for your students to meet volunteers from a variety of sectors and learn about their job, their career paths, and their educational routes.

Research shows that engagement with events such as this helps:

  1. Broaden young people’s horizons and raise their aspirations.
  2. Excite children and young people about subjects, increasing motivation, confidence and attitude to learning.
  3. Challenges gender and social stereotypes.
  4. Improve academic attainment at Leaving Cert level.
  5. Increase young people’s future earning potential.
  6. Reduce the likelihood of young people becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training)

We have hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers waiting to connect with your students through our virtual Career Networking events – a one-hour workshop facilitated over the platform of your choice. As always, our fully Garda Vetted team is here to organise everything and provide any other supports needed.

With this in mind, we have been working hard to create a suite of free online programmes exclusively for schools in South County Dublin.
