We brought 8 young people to the Dáil yesterday for ‘For a Brighter Tomorrow; Youth Voices on the Future of Ireland’ to present to Deputies, Senators, and Councillors in the Dáil on issue of Mental Health and Housing. These student made excellent presentations, shared their lived experiences on these issues, and outlined solutions that will lead to real action in their lives and communities. South Dublin Mayor Peter Kavanagh was so impressed with the presentations, he invited the group to present in the South Dublin Chamber!
Proceedings were led by Senator Eileen Flynn, who remarked that the group were as good, if not better, at public speaking than those who do so every day in the Dáil.
The group had a tour of the Dáil and even had a chance to sit in on a live session and observe the Taoiseach take questions from his colleagues. One of the young people decided “I’m going to be the first female Taoiseach!”
Moments like these are at the heart of our programme. Our aim to to expose young people to the very real possibilities and choices they can make to engage in their careers and life success. We want to offer a huge thanks to Bank of America and Google, without whom this event wouldn’t have been possible.
Huge thanks to everyone to attended, and well done to these incredible young people!
